Getting To Greenland
Getting to Greenland is a wonderful journey across cultures and time zones. Because of the historical, political and economic connections between Greenland and Denmark, our first stop will be in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. We’ll spend an afternoon touring around the ancient city, visiting sites like Tivoli Gardens, the Little Mermaid Statue, the Amalienborg and Christiansborg palaces, Rosenborg Castle, Frederik’s Church, and many museums, restaurants and nightclubs. The following morning, it’s off to Greenland aboard an Air Greenland flight to Kangerlussuaq, and then on to our final destination, the island town of Maniitsoq.

Shortly after, it will be time to boot up, lift off and take in the seemingly infinite beauty of Greenland. When departing the village of Maniitsoq you will quickly recognize why Greenland is like no other ski destination in the world. With mountains rising from the North Atlantic and towering over the quaint villages below, Greenland holds some of the most coveted ski terrain in the Northern Hemisphere.
On the morning of day three, grab some breakfast, hop aboard the Bolatta, and prepare to set sail amongst breathtaking views as you depart the Harbor. You’ll experience first hand how vast and remote the area is as your group navigates through the deep blue fjords to meet the helicopter. You’ll find yourself creating fresh tracks on virgin slopes while gazing out upon the sea in no time.
After your day of adventure you will return back to Hotel Maniitsoq just in time to indulge in a variety of local cuisine consisting of crab, musk ox, reindeer and the catch of the day.
On day four, you will arise once again to panoramic sea views at Hotel Maniitsoq. Being that Maniitsoq is located in an archipelago and is intersected by many small natural canals, the locals consider this area to be the “Venice of Greenland”. With sprawling fjords and glaciers facing every direction from Maniitsoq, the possibilities are endless as you will set out for another day of heli-skiing in some of the most prominent ski locations in the world.
In times when you’re not skiing, Maniitsoq provides a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the quiet, everyday life of the surrounding town. Take a trip to the historic buildings of the Maniitsoq Museum and get a glimpse of the unique history and culture of Greenland. While you’re enjoying downtime around the area, make sure to look for sea life along the ocean, as pods of humpback whales often make appearances.
Greenland is not only a place of world class skiing, but it is also full of unique beauty. While you are navigating through the expansive glaciers and fjords created by thousands of years of glacial erosion, you will have many opportunities to stop and explore all that these natural wonders have to offer.
After a day full of skiing summit to sea, it’s time to unwind and enjoy the restless glow of the Aurora Borealis.
We will take you deeper into the vast mountain ranges of Greenland as we head North toward the world famous Eternity Fjord. This region offers a diverse array of terrain from stunning 1500 meter peaks to ocean glaciers. During this day's venture we can take time to explore Sermilingaaq Fjord which is home to the Sermilingaaq Bird Cliffs, a natural sanctuary for Swallows and other local birds. On your return home, take a flight through the canyon of Blue Lake and take in one of the areas most awe inspiring fresh water lakes.
Day seven is the last day to enjoy the polar powder that is sure to leave you wanting more. After enjoying the last bit of skiing, we will explore Maniitsup Sermilia Ice Cube Beach. This unique stretch of coastline is littered with many large icebergs that provide perfect ice for a celebratory cocktail.
On day eight, you’ll find yourself getting used to the small village lifestyle and the unique view of the Maniitsoq Crater to the east. You’ll have some down time in the morning to stretch your legs and reflect as you walk around the village taking in the quaint architecture that you’ve become familiar with.
As you board your return flight home, the possibilities of this wondrous area will keep you dreaming as you plan your next Heliskiing trip.
